FUNDING

We are a student body of 50+ graduate students at UMD representing a variety of departments. Our mission is to support and advocate for graduate students by passing legislation, meeting with the university administrators, and helping shape university policy. We are the graduate student community's mouthpiece to the university administration.

Our executive board members are elected by the entire graduate student body, and meet weekly to discuss various initiatives, priorities, and campus collaborations that will benefit our fellow graduates. Our assembly representatives are elected by their departments, and meet monthly to discuss issues brought forward by their constituents.

In the past, GSG has supported reducing graduate student fees, advocated for collective bargaining rights, and campaigned for affordable housing for grad students.

GSG also organizes Graduate Research Appreciation Day (GRAD) every April, as well as the International Students Shuttle Program every August.

Advocacy

GSG members ensure graduate student needs, ideas, and concerns are heard and known. GSG passes Acts and Resolutions to reflect student needs to the university administration.

GSG provides funding to registered graduate student groups so they can conduct events on campus.
